CREATING FROM THE HEART

Sacramento Children’s Museum

We love this place!

The Sacramento Children’s Museum (SCM) opened the year Vivienne was born and has been in our rotation of fun experiences ever since. It’s in Rancho Cordova, so a bit of a drive now which just means we visit less often. When Viv was little, we visited often and were members. It was well worth it.

The museum has so many different exploration centers: Cityways, a custom train table of Sacramento; Airways, a fun closed-loop system of clear tubes that you can send poof balls and scarves through; Story Factory, a stage with all sorts of dress up and props to create shows; My Neighborhood, a coffee stand, supermarket, flower market, house, and post office; Camp Rancho, a fishing and camping theme complete with a life-size kayak; and the Art Studio, equipped with a variety of supplies should inspiration hit!

Since our last visit, they’ve also added a new exhibit in Leo’s Learning Lab (this area expands the science enrichment offerings) called Building Buddies. As a woman in the construction industry, this new exhibit has me really excited to return for another visit! The exhibit includes: architecture, organize and plan a house; rehabbing a home, painting with light, hang curtain strips, and upgrade landscaping; Interior remodeling, lay tiles, tighten leaky pipes, inspection, and measure and install siding; build a dog house using foam bricks and roof; plan a home expansion; and use pulleys, conveyor belt, and wheelbarrow to move building materials around the jobsite.

I would be remiss not to mention the reptile friends! It is clear that Skittles the bearded dragon, Harold the tortoise and their friends are well cared for in clean habitats. It is so fun for the kids to be able to interact with these “scaly ambassadors” as SCM so aptly put it!

2024 Family Photos

I have had the wonderful privilege of finding a family photographer that captures the growth of my family beautifully. For more than four years now, Kelsey Krall of Kelsey Krall Photography has worked with us at a variety of local spots. Her style is light and airy which allows our faces to truly be the focal point in each photo. This Fall session is approximately a year after our last session, so the kids all look quite a bit different! Its been such a joy to work with Kelsey, putting together my family’s outfits and

Girls’ Closet Transformation

Our nursery closet has been an ever-evolving process. While it is not perfect, the custom build has allowed us the flexibility to organize clothing storage for one baby, then two, and now it holds most of the clothes for three little girls! I took the bones of this build from another mama blogger and customized the space for our needs. This first picture shows what the closet looked like when we first moved in. The third bedroom in our home was used as an office, library and storage area for the first several months. Once

Our master bedroom has shifted with the needs of our family, but as the place where we spend (or should spend!) 1/3 of our life, Brian and I made a few investments in the bedroom that have been well worth it. Brian spent some time in the world of high-end furniture, so he understands the benefits of a
